Welcome to the Castle I Group inaugural blog post! I’m thrilled to share my heartening writings and the launch of our new website. All my blogs are based on inspirational experiences and a storytelling writing style which I hope you find not only interesting, easy to consume, relatable, and most importantly impactful in your journey.
It was a bright and sunny morning in August, 2023 (August 21, 2023 at 9:20am to be exact) and I was holding my mother’s hand as she passed into eternal life. I had spent the last five days of her life never leaving her bedside reflecting on the life she gave me, always inspiring me to do my best, and most importantly finding the inner strength to carry on with my life’s purpose. The days to follow were filled with streaming tears and sadness but through this process I knew I had to somehow find my peace.
A few days after my mother’s death, my manager and I (besides being a professional life coach, I am also a global marketing professional) set up a call to speak about my return to work. After 3 1/2 years in a position which I thoroughly enjoyed, filled with amazing people and a positive culture, my full time job was sadly being eliminated. It took time to process as I was still in a state of mourning (or you could say shock) over the passing of my mom. I remember asking myself is it possible that two major life changes could take place in five days? Why are these life changing events happening to me so suddenly? Could I have done something different or better? What, if any, are the alternatives?
Anytime we are dealing with loss, whether it be death, job, relationship, or financial, our self-confidence and self-worth can feel shattered. Our world starts to spin out of control. One of my favorite quotes is by Aristotle "It is during our darkest moments that we must focus to see the light." Just remember with time, energy, and positive reflection you will see the light.
If you are dealing with sudden life changes, please take the time to practice the below tips to help find your path forward.
Give yourself time to adjust. It's natural for you to wonder “Why me?”
Accept the reality of the situation
Be kind to yourself
Reach out for support
Stay positive and reinvest your energy and practice mindfulness
Journal your thoughts
Set small, achievable goals
Acknowledge your progress
And then it happened. After much reflection, I was able to find my “light”. I realize my path forward is to devote myself into full time professional life coaching and look forward to guiding others through their journey of self-discovery.
